HLN Architects were appointed as project architects for the Glamorgan Cricket Club ground development at Sophia Gardens. The first phase included the cricket school and riverside stands being completed in time for the millennium.

Design continued, providing 16,000 spectator seats on stands forming a bowl around the 8.5-acre site incorporating a new Pavilion, Grandstand, Media Centre, Hospitality Suites, Medical Centre, concession areas, shop, and toilets.
